Turn on Photo Stream on iOS
Before you can access your photo stream on Mac, you will need to turned on though your iOS device. Once you activated, each photo will automatically uploaded to photo stream. Your photos will remain there for 30 days or until 1000 picture limit. To enable photo stream in your iOS device follow below steps.
1. In iOS 11
In iCloud: Go to Settings > tap on iCloud > scroll down and tap on My Photo Stream.
Go to Settings: Go to Settings > scroll down and tap on Photos > turn on My Photo Stream if it is closed.
2. In iOS 8
Go to Settings from your home screen -> iCloud>Photos -> Turn on My Photo Stream
3. In iOS 7
Go to Settings from your home screen -> Photos & Camera -> Turn on My Photo Stream
4. In Apple TV
Press the button at the center of your Apple TV remote and follow the instructions on the screen. Enter your Apple ID and password and go to iCloud Photo Settings -> Press center button once again -> Turn on My Photo Stream -> Press center button again
5. Macbook using iPhoto
Open the iPhoto app -> Source List -> iCloud -> Use iCloud
If you change your mind or wish to change anything, open your iPhoto app -> Preferences -> iCloud
6. Macbook using Aperture
Open the Aperture app -> Preferences -> iCloud -> Switch My Photo Stream on
Setup iCloud Photo Stream on Mac
Like windows, Mac doesn’t require extra software to handle iCloud settings. Under the system preference, you have all the necessary settings to manage iCloud. If you want to setting up iCloud picture stream on Mac, then it is very easy. You can perform this with very few steps.
- Open System Preference
- Click on iCloud
- Check Photo Stream
- Click on Option to right of photo stream
- Check mark on My photo stream and Automatic Import

There are several limitations that come with iCloud Photo Sharing in general, you can take as many pictures and videos as your device’s GB allow you to but you are only allowed to upload 1,000 photos to your picture Stream per hour, up to 10,000 per day and up to 25,000 per month. Given those very kind limitations most of us will be just fine.
